Welcome to the world’s coldest and toughest ultra race. 430 miles of snow, ice, temperatures as low as -40°C and relentless wilderness… the MYAU is an incredible undertaking.
Based in Yukon, north west Canada, the race route follows the trail of the Yukon Quest Dog Race. Where dog teams once slid and scrambled, now human power chases up the trail. This is a brutal non-stop race across one of Canada’s most remote regions.
The Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra has been around for more than 20 years now. It is the world’s coldest and toughest ultra. Athletes are following the Yukon Quest trail and head into the absolute wilderness. In 2025 the race course will change and for the first time the race will start in Teslin (not in Whitehorse), Yukon Territory.
Athletes can sign up for the 340 or 640 km distance. A lot of gear is needed to stay safe and participants usually transport it all in a so called pulk sled. It’s a non-stop race and the main challenges are long hours of moving every day and potentially extreme temperatures at night.
