One of our most popular events on the trail running calendar returns to Lulworth Cove in Dorset for its 7th year.

The Lulworth Cove Trail Running Challenge 2023 Saturday 25th February 2023.

Lulworth Cove laying on the Dorset coast in the heart of AONB (Area of outstanding Natural Beauty, is one of the most beautiful and recognisable stretches of coastline in the country.

We are situated right on the South West Coast Path just above Lulworth Cove at the equally beautiful, Durdle Door.

It is a spectacular place to begin the trail running challenge but don’t be fooled by the vistas, those climbs aren’t for the faint hearted.

We have four distances on offer, Ultra Marathon, Marathon, long Half Marathon and 10k.

We are very excited to return with this event for 2023 at Lulworth Cove in Dorset, one of the most beautiful and recognisable stretches of coastline in the country, situated right on the South West Coast Path.

Starting at the Durdle Door overflow car park, it’s a beautiful place to begin this trail running challenge.

All four distances head out on the upper stretch of coastline, almost all the way to Weymouth – the 10K runners won’t make it this far, turn off half way along and head down to the coast path before heading back to Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and the finish.

With the rest of the field carrying on to Osmington Mills, the Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra runners leave the upper coast path for a while before joining the lower coast path and heading back to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, enjoying the views from a different direction.

The Half Marathon runners will finish when they arrive back at Lulworth Cove and climb up to the finish, whereas the long Marathon and Ultra runners will carry on past Lulworth Cove to begin the second leg of their challenge, heading in the other direction along the coast path towards St Alban’s Head and Poole. Here they will follow the coast path through M.O.D land, this is a particularly tough section but well worth it. The long Marathon and Ultra turn off the coast path at different times before looping back to Lulworth Cove to the finish line.

This is a stunning venue for a trail running challenge and we advise you to take a camera for the challenge and enjoy the view as you run.

There will be a bespoke medal for all runners at the finish with lots of refreshments and support along the way.

Canicross friendly – Half Marathon and 10k only  (please ensure your dog has trained fully for this event, we do not allow dogs to run the marathon or ultra distances).
