Race Across Dorset is an Ultra Marathon taking in some of the best trails I know on an epic journey from just south of Salisbury to Kimmeridge bay on the world famous Jurassic Coast.

Runners can choose between 100k, 50k or 18 miler distances, all finishing at this iconic spot. The routes take in some extraordinary sites, both in terms of the landscape but also history. Road use is minimal, thanks to special permissions granted by some kind farmers.

Aid stations are situated at key points, a medical team are on call and all finishers receive a lovely medal, and the top 3 in each race (M and F) receive a fine trophy.

Elevation for the races are: 100k – 1380m, 50k – 680m and PT 290m. The terrain is varied, hard tracks, sand, grass, be prepared for everything!

Our KMF 50km ultra marathon is fast becoming a classic in the calendar of ultra running  enthusiasts, this fantastic course takes in some of the best trails and views that the Watendlath, Borrowdale, Butteremere and Newlands valleys have to offer. You don’t need to  be an elite runner to complete the course, but make sure you have done the training required,  as it can be a tough day out!    The 50km Trail Ultra Marathon is graded ‘Very Hard’ and one to get into your 2023 ultra  running calendar if you’re looking for UTMB index points where can you bag points!    The route is a mixture of wide open trails, single track (fast & technical), big long ascents &  fast technical descents, open valley running and very remote trails around the back of the  Buttermere, Crummock Water, and Newlands Valleys. It takes in remote locations that you  will not have run in before. Expect to be blown away by the views of the 4 valleys we take  you through & be overwhelmed by the quality of running you will be immersed in. This race  is not only tough, but is also one of the most scenic races of its type in the Lake District,  taking mountains and lowlands in its stride offering you one of the best trail running  experience in the country!     Ascent: 1995m Early bird £48 until 31st January

A virtual race which can be run at any time shown on the dates shown, on any type of terrain in any country.

Suitable for

For runners from beginners to experienced as you choose your own course and challenge based on the guidelines and options set by the virtual race organiser.

Endurance - Multi-activity

Elevation

An ultra distance race including at least two of the following activities such as running, swimming, cycling, kayaking, skiing and climbing. It may also include different climatic conditions (eg ice, snow, humidity, cold water, mud or heat).

Suitable for

Experienced multi-skilled athletes who have trained for the different activities included in this event. Admission to these races may be subject to receipt of a recent medical examination certificate. Check with the race organiser regarding entry requirements and any specialist equipment required such as a wetsuit, skis or a mountain bike.

Brutal

Elevation

Increase of up to 2000 metres with very challenging climatic conditions (e.g. ice, snow, humidity, heat or at high altitude)

Suitable for

Very experienced long distance ultra runners (min 3 years’ experience) or are doing regular long distance running (>50 miles) with elevation and conditions shown (where possible). Admission to these races is often subject to receipt of a recent medical examination certificate. Purchase of specialist kit is often recommended for these races.

Expert

Elevation

Increase of up to 2000 metres with some challenging climatic conditions (e.g. ice, snow, humidity or heat)

Suitable for

Experienced runners who have completed at least 4 ultras in last 12 months, or are doing regular long distance running (>50 miles) with elevation and conditions shown (where possible). Admission to these races may be subject to receipt of a recent medical examination certificate. Check with the race organiser regarding entry requirements.

Advanced

Elevation

Increase of up to 1500 metres

Suitable for

Runners who have completed several ultra distances or similar events, or are doing long distance running regularly, with elevation shown.

Intermediate

Elevation

Increase of up to 1000 metres

Suitable for

Runners who have completed at least one ultra in last 6 months or are doing long distance running (>26 miles) regularly, with elevation shown.

Beginner

Elevation

Very little change < 500 metres

Suitable for

First ultra event. Runners completing a marathon or doing regular long distance running (>26 miles) in the last 6 months.
