The Swiss Canyon Trail is a race like no other.

This is not some empty slogan or vacuous remark. It’s a genuine statement.

While some races are defined by the ascent of a peak, a given view or technical challenge, the Swiss Canyon Trail (comprising the Trail de l’Absinthe) is characterized by its energizing spirit. 2018 marks the 23rd edition and the first of the new 105km Swiss Canyon Ultra Trail.

This is the land of the Green Fairy – Switzerland’s absinthe valley – of dreams, of myth and legend, of rugged mountains and canyons, waterfalls and gorges, of luscious green forests and charming streams. It’s akin to running through a scene from the Lord of Rings with frequent 360 degree views of Switzerland. The courses are relentless with constant switches from climbing to descending.

Remote, rugged, with mystery always present.

The 2018 race, through its K105 (ultra) course, offers a wider range of natural wonders from cascades to cliffs to canyons and ever more challenging terrain. Other distances include 75km (the Trail de l’Absinthe), 45km, 25km and the 45km distance as a 3-leg relay.
