Marathon des Sables 2017 – First International Women’s Team

Last updated: 19-Oct-18

We need you! Love running? Passionate about women’s participation in sports? Love sand and extreme heat? Yes?

Really?! Well read on…

Launching for the first time in 2017, the inaugural Marathon des Sables International Women’s Team running the 32nd edition of the race.

The team will be comprised of four up and coming female runners from Morocco and the United Kingdom. So what’s missing? Potentially you! We need our second and final UK runner to join the team and applications are now open.

Having spent time training with the Ahansal brothers in Morocco, our Team Captain and X-bionic athlete Jenny Davis saw an opportunity to increase local women’s involvement in sport and what better way to achieve that than to enter a female team into the country’s most famous and talked about race, the Marathon des Sables.

This is an incredible opportunity to be part of something genuinely empowering for women in sport and train with the guidance of a very talented coaching team.

Deadline for application is 31st July 2016 and all details can be found HERE.

Jenny is shortly heading out to Morocco to kick off the selection committee to finalise our other teammates. She’s also volunteering at this year’s event and will be in Ourzazate for the week training with some female athletes.

A highway to hell the Marathon des Sables might be, but we promise it will be one hell of a ride. Get your applications in!
