Ben Smith, who started running his 401 marathons in 401 days in September has made his way across the southern UK and up to Scotland. He is running to raise £250,000 for two charities, Stonewall and Kidscape, who both work to combat bullying.
Ben is in good shape, and began his Scottish stint on March 11 in Kelso. He will be doing 81 marathons in Scotland in total.
One of the great things about the challenge is that he encourages people to participate and run with him. 3,500 people have done so already.
He also incorporates school visits and talks into his day – sore legs notwithstanding. He is passionate about combating bullying.
He was bullied badly at school and this led to several suicide attempts. He acknowledges that running has helped him fight depression and given him the impetus to create a new life.
Details of where and when he will be running are on his website, if you would like to join him!
