Skyrunning continues to attract new participants and collect new races. This latest qualifying race is the Ingeli Skymarathon which is in its third year. It is near Koksand in KwaZulu Natal and has been officially named qualifying race for the upcoming Skyrunning World Championships, which will take place in Spain on 23 July.

Ingeli is called the “Green Mamba” of trail running for the several nasty bites it delivers over its 42km course which includes more than 2 000m of vertical ascent.

The winning man and woman of this year’s race will be flown by the South African Skyrunning association to Spain to represent South African skyrunning in the Buff® Epic Run SkyMarathon® in Vall de Boi in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Ingeli race organizer, Dave Dixon, is delighted that the Ingeli SkyMarathon® has been nominated as the qualifier for the 2016 Skyrunning World Champs.

This puts a new dimension on our event, and we can assure all our runners a world class trail running experience in one of the most pristine areas of South Africa. The route has been designed to provide the athletes with a unique challenge, particularly in the ambits of SkyMarathon running,” says Dixon.
