Your chance to run with Kilian Jornet in the Lakes – 7th April

The Salomon International Running Team are coming to Keswick in the Lake District (England, UK) on 7th April for a series of talks and a trail run which you can take part in.

This is an awesome opportunity to run with the stars. Nineteen of the world’s best trail runners, including several World Champions will be there.

The event begins at 2pm on 7 April at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, where the team will talk, show films from around the world, and take part in a Q&A.

The big event – the run starts at 5pm from outside the outdoor retailer George Fisher. There is a 5km and a 10km.

Kilian Jornet will be there. The Spanish long-distance specialist is widely regarded as the best trail runner in the world; six-time champion of the long-distance running Skyrunner World Series and winner of ultramarathons including the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, the Grand Raid, the Western States Endurance Run and the Hardrock Hundred Mile.

Also attending are Anna Frost, one of the world’s most recognisable ultrarunners, Francois D’Haene, the 2014 winner of UTMB, plus US runner Max King, winner at the 2014 IAU 100 km World Championships and the 2011 World Mountain Running Championships.

UK stars will include Maryport-based Ricky Lightfoot, winner of the 2013 Trail World Championships, plus Ellie Greenwood, two-time 100km World Champion.

Trail run tickets (£5 per person) are available from the George Fisher website and in store, while the Theatre by the Lake tickets (£10) are available from the theatre box office and website.

All proceeds from the theatre and the runs will be donated to the Fix the Fells footpath regeneration charity.

Increase of up to 2000 metres with very challenging climatic conditions (e.g. ice, snow, humidity, heat or at high altitude)

Suitable for

Very experienced long distance ultra runners (min 3 years’ experience) or are doing regular long distance running (>50 miles) with elevation and conditions shown (where possible). Admission to these races is often subject to receipt of a recent medical examination certificate. Purchase of specialist kit is often recommended for these races.

Expert

Elevation

Increase of up to 2000 metres with some challenging climatic conditions (e.g. ice, snow, humidity or heat)

Suitable for

Experienced runners who have completed at least 4 ultras in last 12 months, or are doing regular long distance running (>50 miles) with elevation and conditions shown (where possible). Admission to these races may be subject to receipt of a recent medical examination certificate. Check with the race organiser regarding entry requirements.

Advanced

Elevation

Increase of up to 1500 metres

Suitable for

Runners who have completed several ultra distances or similar events, or are doing long distance running regularly, with elevation shown.

Intermediate

Elevation

Increase of up to 1000 metres

Suitable for

Runners who have completed at least one ultra in last 6 months or are doing long distance running (>26 miles) regularly, with elevation shown.

Beginner

Elevation

Very little change < 500 metres

Suitable for

First ultra event. Runners completing a marathon or doing regular long distance running (>26 miles) in the last 6 months.
