Ultimate Direction Amelia Boone Vest Review

Are you constantly running cold then too hot in wintry, cold conditions? Yes me!

I know I’m going to warm up very quickly and as they say ‘dress for the 2nd mile not the 1st’ but I hate being too cold as well. Enter the new UD Amelia Boone vest, it hits the spot.

I love how the vest feels, it sits nicely on the hips without riding up, it’s nicely padded on the front to give that warmth against the wind and the hood is a great bonus when you need to block that cold wind out a bit more. There’s even a front pocket which I have found surprisingly handy to throw my gloves in once I warm up.

This sleeveless, hooded vest is made from recycled fabrics and gives you an unrestrictive core insulation and great breathability. Even once I’ve warmed up I don’t get overheated, with the front having a bit of extra padding, the back is super light to keep you cool.

So what are the specs?

It retails at $99USD, weighs in at 8.82oz/250g. I’m 5”11 and I’m wearing the small size. It has has 360-degree reflectivity and uses Polartec® Power Dry® for the most advanced next-to-skin moisture management fabric. Clo Eco Vivo synthetic insulation in the front stays warm even when wet and increases breathability by 30% without reducing warmth

It’s stylish too. I have the white vest, with an asymmetric zip which uncovers a black and white camouflage print underneath. It also comes in black with white and black camouflage print.

I’ve been wearing mine throughout winter when I need an extra layer but hate having the restricted feeling of a full on jacket (boil in a bag!), and wear it either on it’s own, with a shirt underneath or a long sleeve shirt underneath depending on the conditions.

This vest is currently only available to purchase in the US.
