Janji Gossamer Tee and 5-Inch Pace Shorts Review

Introduction

Janji’s Gossamer tee stayed genuinely dry through my hotter summer training blocks, while its women’s 5″ Pace Shorts gave me useful storage and no chafing on long efforts. The tee’s back hem needed the occasional tug down, but there’s plenty to like about both pieces.

I received the tee for review and already owned the shorts. I liked the shorts enough to buy another pair ahead of my summer Spine race, with some particularly helpful customer service from Janji when stock was proving a problem.

Features

Janji describes the women’s Gossamer tee as a boxy, cropped racing layer. The brand says the shorter body is intended to improve airflow and make waistband pockets easier to reach. The specifications below are for the women’s models.

Pinnacle R.D. “Gossamer” Tee

  • UK price: £65, listed on 7 October 2026.

  • Main fabric: Groundwork Knit, 68% nylon and 32% spandex.

Gossamer Tee

The tee fitted true to size on me. I particularly liked the sleeve length. It’s a considerate cut for older women who want a bit more coverage from a technical tee.

The fabric’s breathability was the standout feature. Through sustained effort, it stayed dry rather than turning damp and clingy against my skin. That made it especially useful during the hotter training blocks this summer.

A wet shirt can become a real nuisance over ultra distances: chafing, getting cold on an exposed section, or simply feeling miserable several hours into a run.

The back hem is short and tends to ride up. I needed to pull it down occasionally, particularly with a pack on. The sleeve coverage is welcome, but anyone who prefers a longer body should pay attention to that cropped cut.

The tee also packs down small and light. It’s an easy addition to luggage for a running trip or to a minimal kit bag for a multi-day hike.

A breathable summer layer that stayed dry through my hotter training blocks. The sleeve coverage is welcome, though the short back hem needs occasional adjustment.

5-Inch Pace Shorts

The medium was slightly big on me. If you’re a UK size 10–12 and wondering which size to choose, that generous fit is worth bearing in mind.

The pockets are the feature I appreciate most. They offer genuinely useful space for gels, a phone or keys, making it easier to carry the essentials without adding a separate belt.

I had no chafing in these shorts, including with the bloating that can happen during long races. Comfort matters even more once you’re dealing with hours of movement and a body that doesn’t feel quite the same as it did at the start!

Janji’s customer service also deserves a mention. In the run-up to my summer Spine race, I realised I would need more than one pair for an event of that duration, but there were none in stock. I emailed to explain, and the team managed to source a pair that I could buy and have delivered before the race. That was a genuinely helpful response when I needed it.

Roomy shorts with useful storage and chafe-free comfort in my experience, including during long-race bloating. The medium fitted slightly generously on me.

Pros

  • Tee: Excellent breathability in my summer testing, good sleeve coverage and small packed size.
  • Shorts: Useful pockets, a roomy fit and no chafing in my experience.
  • Customer service: Janji sourced an extra pair of shorts for me before my summer Spine race.

Cons

  • Tee: The short back hem rides up, especially with a pack.
  • Shorts: My medium ran slightly big, so check sizing carefully.

Conclusion

Gossamer tee rating: 4.5/5. It’s a reliable layer for hot or high-output days, and easy to take travelling. I’ll keep reaching for it for summer races, with the occasional hem adjustment part of the deal.

The Pace Shorts are comfortable enough for the less glamorous realities of long-distance running, with pockets that genuinely help. If you’re choosing between sizes, bear in mind that my medium had a little more room than expected.
